Hi David,

Thanks for reaching us.

Did you run the program with Administrator permission? If yes, it would disable the ability of drag and drop for our program. Please ensure that, do not run our program with administrator right.

Currently, Electra E9 does not have the ability to import vsd. However, we do have a tool to export the Electra E8 (or E7 or E6) drawings and stencils to be imported into Electra E9 so that users can access their drawings in the latest version. Kindly go to https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10BqG22vGLVDd9DrrJXr6SZujSt4w3hj7 to get the user manual and https://storage.googleapis.com/installers-electra.getvecta.com/ExportElectra.zip to get the tool.

Should you have any problems during importation, please send us the screenshots of the error message and the Electra E8 drawing, we'd be keen to help.

Regards,
The Electra Support Team

Hi David,

To clarify, we would like to know how do you export the stencil? Do you download the import tool from https://storage.googleapis.com/installers-electra.getvecta.com/ExportElectra.zip to export the stencils from Electra E8 first?

If yes, the correct way to import it to Electra E9 is by dragging and dropping the exported SVG file onto the Electra E9 editor instead of by Import stencil feature. The Import stencil feature is for users who want to import stencils from Electra Cloud to Electra E9 or vice versa only.

If that is not the case, please try to download and use the tool to import stencils from Electra E8 to Electra E9. Should you still having problem on this, please send us your original stencil file to [email protected] We'd be keen to assist you.

Please do let us know how it goes.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Please try the following steps and check if the problem is resolved after trying each step:

  1. Ensure your Visio is 32-bit.
  2. This is probably due to a missing DLL that Electra requires to operate. It could be a few things, but most of the time it will be Microsoft XML service. Please go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3988 and run this download (msxml6_x64.msi for 64-bit PC and msxml6.msi for 32-bit PC), after which please re-install Electra. No uninstall is necessary.
  3. Go to https://blog.radicasoftware.com/2012/04/compile-error-after-windows-update-on.html and follow the steps to delete all the .exd files.

If the steps above did not solve the problem, please re-register mscomctl.ocx:

  1. Click Start and type cmd.
  2. Right click on the cmd and select "Run as administrator".
  3. On the command prompt window, type "regsvr32 /u <path of the OCX>\MSCOMCTL.ocx" to unregister it. If your OS is 64 bit, path of the OCX will be "C:\Windows\SysWOW64", else will be "C:\Windows\System32".
  4. Go to path of the OCX, rename MSCOMCTL.ocx to _MSCOMCTL.ocx.
  5. Save the attached MSCOMCTL.ocx into the folder.

Also, we have updated the import tool, kindly download the latest tool from https://storage.googleapis.com/installers-electra.getvecta.com/ExportElectra.zip for future usage.

Should all the steps above do not solve your issue, kindly send your drawings to [email protected] We'd be keen to assist you.
